This position operates a CT scanner, prepares and positions patients, and screens patients for safe scanning and contrast administration. The technologist obtains IV access, administers contrast, and is knowledgeable about recognizing and responding to adverse contrast events. They possess knowledge of scan protocols, select appropriate protocols for clinical concerns, and adjust scan parameters for diagnostic images. The role involves collaboration with radiologists and referring physicians, adherence to radiation safety protocols, and performing routine equipment QC. Staying current with continuing education, assisting in medical alert situations, and effective communication with patients, families, and the care team are also key aspects. Documentation in the EMR and assisting with minimally invasive procedures as needed are also part of the responsibilities.
