Under the direction of the Radiologist, Director, Supervisors, and Lead Special Procedure Technologist performs diagnostic medical imaging including Cardiac CT and invasive procedures by CT Scan examinations. The CT Technologist performs computed tomography examinations, assesses situations, considers alternatives, and chooses the appropriate course of action. They respond to changes in workload, conduct job duties in accordance with departmental standards, and communicate technical information appropriately to patients, families, members, or visitors. The role involves producing quality images consistently, serving as a resource to co-workers, and assessing for vein/site selection and initiating venipuncture per established standards. Documentation of venipuncture site/contrast in RIS and knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, CT anatomical landmarks, and recognition of abnormalities are crucial. The technologist observes departmental policies and procedures, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control standards, running appropriate quality control procedures and notifying supervisors of quality issues. They prepare written documentation as required, accurately use the KRONOS time clock system, and utilize the Hospital/Radiology system according to established policy, including inputting and retrieving information from HIS/Radiology information system, performing 3D workstation duties, and maintaining patient information confidentiality. The role also involves handling bio-hazardous waste appropriately, following safety and infection control policies, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to dress codes. Practices universal precautions, maintains a safe, clean, comfortable, and therapeutic environment, and assumes responsibility for completing all annual mandatory requirements. Service excellence is provided through timely, high-quality, courteous, and respectful care, demonstrating respect and compassion, recognizing diverse needs, and fostering teamwork. Quality Assessment is incorporated into daily work, including wise resource utilization, recommending efficiency improvements, and reviewing departmental PI, OA, and QC. Age-appropriate care is provided to infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, demonstrating knowledge and skills for normal growth and development, assessing and interpreting age-specific data, and utilizing age-specific communication skills. Specialized care is provided to patients at high risk for injury, including restraint care and pain management. Effective communication with medical staff, co-workers, and patients is essential, along with participation in continuing education and meetings. Procedures are explained to customers in understandable terms, and self-presentation is professional. The environment is maintained to be conducive to good customer relations, respecting customer privacy and confidentiality, and improving the waiting experience by greeting customers, informing them of wait times, offering comfort measures, and keeping them informed of their status. The technologist responds quickly to requests and complaints and demonstrates practices of teamwork by avoiding blame, offering assistance, providing positive recognition, discussing roles, and greeting new team members.
