Requirements

  • Minimum one year of current work experience in Computed Tomography.
  • Current valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Radiography certification.
  • Current valid advanced ARRT Computed Tomography certification.
  • Graduate of a qualifying radiography or radiation therapy technology program from an accredited college, university hospital, medical school, post-secondary technical school, or vocational school.
  • Demonstrated experience starting IV access and performing contrast injections.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification.
  • PACS work experience required, including Agfa PACS.
  • Ability to use Radiology Vista, CPRS, imaging technology, and required patient care systems.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively.
  • U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident Card holder required.
  • Must pass or possess VA Public Trust Clearance.
  • Must follow VA onboarding, privacy, cyber security, safety, training, and compliance requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Intravenous certification preferred but not required.
  • Prior VA, federal healthcare, hospital radiology, or CT department experience helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Independently operate CT scanning equipment to perform complex CT imaging examinations.
  • Practice CT safety while using radiation-producing equipment to image the brain, neck, spine, chest, body, and extremities.
  • Receive patients, explain procedures, position patients, set technical parameters, and adjust accessory imaging equipment.
  • Contribute to patient assessments, prioritize care needs, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Set up CT suites with sterile supplies, contrast materials, catheters, and required equipment.
  • Prepare and administer contrast material intravenously under close radiologist supervision, as required.
  • Send images to PACS, archive and post-process images, and complete case editing of requests and reports.
  • Enter and maintain patient information in Radiology Vista, CPRS, and related systems.
  • Follow VALBHS policies, medical staff protocols, contract requirements, CT safety standards, and Joint Commission standards.
  • Protect VA records and patient information from unauthorized access, disclosure, modification, or release.
  • Complete VA orientation and mandatory training, including privacy, cyber security, diversity, quality improvement, fire safety, infection control, and compliance education.
  • Report unusual incidents, accidents, malfunctions, injuries, deaths, or suspected privacy/security incidents according to VA and contract requirements.
  • Maintain professional appearance, wear VA-issued identification and required scrubs while on duty, and follow facility protocols.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement and Risk Management activities as required.
