About The Position

The CT Technologist performs C.T. procedures with minimum supervision at the clinical direction of a Radiologist and the administrative direction of the Imaging Services Mgr. This role also involves performing routine and emergency x-ray exams, and maintaining equipment and supplies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited radiology program.
  • ARRT – American Registry Radiologic Technologist certificate required; RT (R).
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • NV State radiology license required.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, physicians, patients and administrative staff in a courteous and professional manner.

  • CT credential preferred; RT(R)(CT) or completed within 6 months of eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and emergency C.T. studies according to department protocol, including biopsy, drainage, and thoracentesis.
  • Obtains consent for contrast injection and allergy history from patients.
  • Administers I.V., oral, and rectal contrast according to physician request and department protocol.
  • Observes patients for signs of contrast reaction, extravasation, or infiltration and follows ACR guidelines for allergic reactions.
  • Selects proper technique/protocol to obtain an optimal scan, prints films, sends scans to Radiologist, and archives exam data.
  • Performs post-processing of data including reformations and retrospective reconstructions.
  • Reviews studies for overall quality and communicates pertinent clinical history to the Radiologist.
  • Measures regions of interest on exams.
  • Responds to C.T. and x-ray requisitions for various patient types (ER, inpatients, surgery, outpatients).
  • Organizes workload and prioritizes according to patient need, calling for backup technologist if necessary.
  • Performs warm-up and calibration of the C.T. scanner.
  • Demonstrates ability to perform quality control procedures according to manufacturer's specifications.
  • Maintains equipment and room in a neat and sanitary condition.
  • Reports equipment malfunctions to Imaging Manager and Emergency Department immediately.
  • Ensures room is properly supplied and the drug reaction kit is locked and current.
