About The Position

Our radiology team at UAB St. Vincent’s Blount provides advanced imaging services for the entire hospital, supporting the inpatient, outpatient, surgical, oncology, and emergency care teams. We offer self-scheduling. Our mammography service is an ACR Comprehensive Breast Imaging Center, which represents our commitment to operating at the highest level of quality and safety. UAB St. Vincent’s Blount is the only hospital in Blount County and is designated as a Critical Access Hospital by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • ARRT Radiography certification required.
  • Graduate of an accredited educational program in Radiologic Technology required.

Nice To Haves

  • ARRT(CT) certification preferred for Hospital setting.
  • ARRT(CT) required for IDTF (Independent Diagnostic Testing Facility).

Responsibilities

  • Performs and leads CT imaging procedures; prepares and positions patients and selects anatomic and technical parameters accurately.
  • Ensures quality in imaging, patient care, and workflow; monitors patient documentation for timely completion and accuracy.
  • Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Observes patients during procedures and reports abnormal activity; supports protocol monitoring and recommends refinements.
  • Oversees quality control testing, equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting of CT systems.
  • Ensures prompt submission of high-quality images and documentation to PACS.
  • Ensures compliance with radiation safety standards and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Serves as a clinical and technical resource to CT staff and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Performs staff orientation, training, and coaching; provides input to performance evaluations.
  • Assists in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly department.
  • Monitors departmental processes to support efficiency and patient throughput.
  • Participates in process improvement and quality initiatives.
