About The Position

Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention while adhering to radiation safety principles. This role involves exercising professional judgment, delivering appropriate care, and complying with all state and federal regulations. The technologist will assess patient conditions, provide instructions for cooperation, perform proper patient identification, and acquire clinical history. They will position patients and equipment, manipulate technical factors for high-quality images, and assess images for technical quality and proper annotation. Radiation safety principles are to be applied to minimize exposure. The role also includes comprehending and complying with Quality Control standards, administering contrast medication, performing venipuncture, and administering medical aid in cases of adverse reactions. Additionally, the technologist will apply standard precautions, assist in supervision and training, utilize computer systems effectively, ensure customer safety, and maintain attendance and compliance with all policies and guidelines. Maintaining a clean, well-stocked, and organized work area, as well as providing patient transport, are also responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Graduate of either: An accredited school of Radiologic Technology; or An approved school of Nuclear Medicine Technology.
  • Mandatory minimum of two (2) years’ CT experience
  • Valid Certified Radiologic Technologist licensure by the State of Florida.
  • Current AHA BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification (R) and valid American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification (CT); or Valid Nuclear Medicine Certification Board (NMTCB) in (CT); or Valid Nuclear Medicine Certification Board (NMTCB) in (CNMT) and valid American Registry of Radiologic Certification (CT).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: Advanced imaging experience and proficiency, including 3D Lab or IR imaging, or Cardiac imaging.
  • Site proctor/preceptor for onboarding new hires and cross-training.
  • Dual imaging roles, with current proficiency and routinely performing in secondary modality.

  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated.
  • Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in contrast medication administration with and without use of power injectors.
  • Performs venipuncture and evaluates IV access for the purpose of contrast administration as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Administers medical aid as required in cases of adverse reaction to contrast medication and/or other emergencies.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Assists in supervision of student technologists and training of new technologists.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures the safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and education requirements.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment.
  • Maintains well-stocked and organized work areas.
  • Provides patient transport.
