About The Position

This program offers training from X-Ray into CT at a Level 1 trauma center. The Computed Tomography Technologist performs computerized tomographic scans, provides basic patient care, explains procedures, maintains equipment, transports patients, and prepares documentation. This is an on-site position located in Flagstaff, Arizona. Northern Arizona Healthcare is seeking individuals who value quality, prioritize patients, and contribute to a positive work environment. Requirements

  • Completed degree in diagnostic imaging/radiology.
  • Associates of Applied Science or other Related Fields.
  • MRTBE CT-Required.
  • BLS (American Heart Assoc.)-Required.
  • NAHPG Clinic-Based Staff (Does not apply to Imaging Clinic): Fingerprint Clearance Card application number-Required upon hire.
  • Fingerprint Clearance Card-Required within 90 days of hire.
  • Employee will obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for the roles assigned by their departmental leader.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as imaging technologist.
  • Colleagues must have an understanding of computers, and competence in using computers and basic software programs.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years experience as imaging technologist.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains patient history.
  • Educates patients/families regarding procedures and/or treatment to be performed as well as risk factors and prevention.
  • Positions patients appropriately for the applicable radiographic procedure.
  • Performs radiographic procedures and analysis according to departmental guidelines.
  • Develops and evaluates radiographic results for technical quality, such as density, contrast, definition and distortion.
  • Applies learned methodologies with independent judgment according to established policies and procedures.
  • Performs prescribed procedures in accordance with established policies.
  • Maintains infection prevention standards.
  • Explains standard procedures and answers patients questions.
  • Prepares, cleans, adjusts, inspects and maintains equipment.
  • Produces quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed or required.
  • Collaborates with physicians and other medical professionals.
  • Operate head or body scanners to create a computer generated cross-sectional image of patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues.
  • Produces computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas.
  • Determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.
  • May perform obstetric and gynecological scans, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, and radiation therapy localization.
  • Adheres to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements, demonstrating ability to troubleshoot and notifying appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
  • Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department and monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of service.
  • Document any incidental findings that might impact patient safety or patient care and provide that information to the interpreting physician.
  • Exercise responsibility for the maintenance and accuracy of facility reports, database records and logs.
  • Ensure that the examination results meet the facility standard for Quality Assurance before findings are released for interpretation.
  • Provide oversight for the assessment of examinations performed within the facility for technical and image quality, and accuracy.
  • Participates in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidenced based practice and research.
  • Focuses on personal development areas, engaging in professional/collegial interactions with peers and students.
  • Works with peers and other health care providers.
  • Participates in ongoing in-service and educational seminars.
  • Participates in orienting, assisting, mentoring and education of colleagues and students.
  • Assist with the orientation and training of new staff.
  • Stays current and complies with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees area of responsibility.
  • If required for position, ensures all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
  • Completes all company mandatory modules and required job specific training in the specified time frame.
  • Responsible for reporting any safety related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attends all safety related training programs; performs work in a safe manner; monitors work environment for possible safety issues and ensures others are also performing work in a safe manner.
