This position is accountable for leading the day-to-day activities of the CT Department. The CT Tech Lead will provide information on staffing needs to the Manager and create work schedules to ensure all shifts are covered. They will collaborate with Biomed Service to maintain equipment functionality, reporting significant downtime to the Manager and affected departments. The Lead will ensure staff maintain proper supply inventories, keep rooms prepared and stocked, and ensure rooms are clean and ready for patients. They will also work with Inpatient and Outpatient Scheduling to ensure appropriate patient scheduling. This role provides oversight and direction to CT Technologists to carry out their daily assignments, ensuring adherence to patient identification policies, department workflows, and proper patient transfer, positioning, and immobilization for quality examinations. The Lead will also ensure staff competency in starting IVs for contrast media administration, operating power injectors, independent workstations, and CT equipment, and documenting contrast reactions and Midas reports. Additionally, the Lead will oversee CT equipment protocols and technical factors for safe, ALARA-based examinations, ensure job aids are available, identify technical limitations among staff, and oversee training documentation. They will ensure CT staff are trained and competent with GE Advantage Workstation, Vitria workstation, and 3 DR Post Processing protocols, overseeing competency training for post-processing tools and ensuring procedures are processed correctly. The Lead will also oversee technical trainers for post processing, equipment functionality, and specialized exams. Maintaining established Accrediting Organization (DNV, ACR) and Departmental Safety Standards (Dose Management, Policy and Procedure) is crucial for patient and staff well-being, including compliance with IDPH and other licensing bodies, developing monthly quality improvement plans, encouraging staff professional development, maintaining radiation safety standards, and ensuring staff are educated on fire safety, disaster safety, and evacuation policies. The Lead will also assist staff in attending mandatory inservices and educational opportunities. Furthermore, this role provides oversight and direction to CT Staff in patient satisfaction, ensuring a positive patient environment, participating in service recovery efforts, maintaining excellent relations with other departments and physicians, and leading customer service activities to maintain a high Press Ganey Percentile Rank. The Lead will ensure positive physician relations and partnership, acting on Radiologists' concerns promptly and developing a collaborative team to meet patient needs. This includes collaborating with physicians and other departments on program development, resolving physician complaints, partnering with physicians on clinical programs, and maintaining relationships with Infection Control, Interventional Radiology, and ED. The Lead will build a skilled and knowledgeable team of CT Technologists, collaborating with the manager in recruitment and selection, role-modeling behaviors of excellence, encouraging accountability, following processes for employee complaints, providing feedback for performance reviews, functioning as a preceptor, and utilizing appropriate communication skills.
