About The Position

Computed Tomography (CT) Technologists specialize in using ionizing radiation to produce cross-sectional images to help doctors diagnose and treat patients. CT Technologists perform diagnostic Computerized Tomographic examinations in accordance with all prescribed standards under the direct guidance of the supervising Radiologist. CT Technologists provide patient care to all age groups to include neonatal, pediatrics, adult, and geriatrics. Demonstrates ability to perform advance CT imaging (Cardiac and Vascular) and is competent/proficient with cross-sectional anatomy and physiology. Provides more complex technical care necessary to meet identified patient needs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an AMA approved Radiologic Technology program or JRCERT accredited hospital-based training program.
  • 2 years’ experience as a CT Technologist.
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (R) (CT).
  • Advanced certification by ARRT in Computed Tomography (CT).
  • BLS certified.
  • Must have a strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy
  • Must be able to perform quality CT examinations in accordance with all standards.
  • Must be able to provide other technologists instruction on the same equipment.
  • Must deliver SAFE care in accordance with the Alwaysafe program.
  • Must use AIDET with every encounter and be proficient with service recovery

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates competence and proficiency in performing all CT procedures on patients of all age groups. Positions patient, selects the correct protocol, and utilizes all required equipment.
  • Maintains proficiency to perform CT interventional procedures.
  • Maintains competencies in all non-scanner related components.
  • Accurately follows all established imaging protocols for exam being performed.
  • Performs quality control procedures in accordance with the ACR guidelines.
  • Adhere to the Radiation Safety Policies and the principles of a viable dose reduction program.
  • Provides patient education and communications in accordance with prescribed standards
  • Assist with performing and planning multiple diagnostic procedures in appropriate time sequences.
  • Acts as a mentor for students and junior technologists.
  • Regularly assumes responsibilities and provides direct care for the more complex patients.
  • Coordinates in the absence of the lead technologists.
  • Ability to post-process advance imaging procedures by using applications such as Syngo Via.
  • Must be competent and proficient to position, select correct protocol and utilize imaging equipment on patients of all age groups for radiological exams, when requested.
  • Ensures the department meets all regulatory requirements.
  • Serves as a preceptor for department.
  • Functions independently with little guidance from manager.
  • Participate in the ACR accreditation process.
  • Assist lead technologists with evaluating staff competencies annually.
