About The Position

Join the Weekend Program CT Imaging Team at St. Luke’s as a dedicated Weekend Program CT Technologist. In this role, you will operate state-of-the-art GE scanners and contribute to a wide variety of diagnostic procedures and studies. The position offers one weekend off per quarter and a weekend program differential in addition to hourly pay. Requirements

  • Radiographer license issued by the state of Wisconsin
  • Registered Technologist (RT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Computed Tomography (CT) registration issued by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) needs to be obtained within 18 months
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months
  • Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Radiologic Technology
  • No experience required
  • Knowledge of cross sectional anatomy and basic radiation safety
  • Competent in IV and venipuncture (if required by facility)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and patient service skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members
  • Ability to work independently
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Maintain annual educational requirements for hospital based certifications (e.g.DNV, CARF or others)

Responsibilities

  • Competently operate CT equipment to perform basic and intermediate diagnostic procedures, including basic imaging processing, body, head, chest, abdomen, pelvis, contrast, orthopedic and extremity scans.
  • Obtain medical history from patients and compare requisitions to physicians' orders to ensure exam accuracy.
  • Position patients and select proper scanning factors, adjusting factors to attain appropriate images, and provide radiation protection and safety in accordance with regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media under the direction of the Radiologist, and assist in proper scanning techniques.
  • Provide measurements and additional slices for accurate interpretation with direction from the Radiologist.
  • Post-process images as directed and accurately identify and label images with patient name, medical record unit (MRU) number, and location or position of scan on all images.
  • Prepare and maintain records in accordance with various regulatory agencies, enter patient and study information into the radiology information system, and document billing codes of procedures performed to ensure accurate patient charges.
  • Identify equipment performance issues, perform equipment quality assurance tests and calibration procedures, report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate staff, and evaluate new products and equipment.
  • Perform various patient positioning and transporting duties, which require lifting and pushing/pulling, while utilizing proper technique.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures.
