The CT Scan Technologist performs computer tomography procedures and related techniques, producing sectional and three-dimensional images for interpretation and assists with interventional and therapeutic procedures. This role involves performing complex CT procedures, using professional judgment to review patient history, preparing and screening contrast questionnaires, and administering contrast media as prescribed. The technologist is responsible for verifying the appropriateness of exams, communicating with physicians for clarification, and managing insurance authorizations. They also handle obtaining outside studies, providing exam copies, and evaluating radiographs for diagnostic quality. Patient preparation, including shielding and immobilization, is crucial, as is determining the correct type and dose of contrast. Clear communication with patients about procedures and addressing their concerns are also key responsibilities. The role includes performing venipuncture, monitoring patients for adverse reactions, and working scheduled shifts, including holidays and weekends.
