About The Position

The Imaging Support Specialist is responsible for aiding technologists in patient care and schedule facilitation. The specialist will be responsible for care aspects that do not fall under regulated roles of technologist. These aspects include preparing patients for exams, assisting patients in and out of exam rooms, cleaning and preparing the exam room, and transporting patients.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 year Hospital or patient care setting

  • Basic Life Support Program (BLS) - American Heart Association

Responsibilities

  • Assist technologists, as requested, throughout the procedure
  • Demonstrates knowledge of age specific competencies to provide appropriate care to all patients
  • Uses proper body mechanics to move, assist with positioning, or transferring a patient.
  • Uses appropriate tools and techniques to assist with patient care (i.e. monitors, equipment, visual observation).
  • Uses AIDET to explain procedures to patients to reduce anxiety and ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Communicates appropriately with the patient, staff and family members to facilitate care.
  • Records appropriate information to ensure data integrity in the EMR while adhering to HIPPA guidelines.
  • Understands basic anatomy and physiology.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of psychosocial consideration to provide appropriate care.
  • Understands and applies appropriate medical terminology.
  • Follows ALARA principles and employs appropriate safety precautions.
  • Follows regulatory rules and guidelines.
  • Uses proper cleaning supplies and techniques to adhere to infection control policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with healthcare team.
