About The Position

The Piping Field Engineer Specialist is responsible for supporting construction, quality inspections, and system turnover activities through detailed field walkdowns, system verification, and documentation readiness. This role focuses on verifying installed piping systems against design requirements, isometric and P&ID drawings, identifying discrepancies, creating punch lists, supporting test package development, and ensuring systems are mechanically complete and ready for testing and turnover. Field walkdowns and installation verification are a core function of piping FE roles supporting turnover activities.

Requirements

  • 5 to 12 years piping and/or mechanical engineering related field experience (preferred)
  • Experience in B31.3 Process Piping construction/installation (LNG client or similar preferred)
  • Strong knowledge of interpretation of P&IDs, isometrics, and plot plans
  • Strong knowledge of ASME B31.3 and applicable codes
  • Ability to perform field walkdowns and identify discrepancies
  • Strong communication and coordination skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with computer literate in word processing, Excel, etc.
  • Experience with quality validation/inspections
  • Experience with pipe pressure testing and system turnover
  • Knowledge of flange management
  • Knowledge of valve installation requirements
  • Knowledge of pipe cleanliness standards

Responsibilities

  • Perform system & test package line walks to verify installation against: Isometric drawings, P&IDs, and Plot plans
  • Identify and document punch items and deficiencies
  • Validate examples: Valve orientation (PPE – Preferred Pressure End / VE – Vent End), Valve Accessibility and operability, Proper installation of components (valves, fittings, pipe supports)
  • Confirm piping routing, slope, and tie-ins match design requirements
  • Support inspections ensuring compliance with: Project specifications and Applicable standards/codes
  • Verify: Flange alignment and integrity, Bolt-up completeness, Material traceability, and Pipe cleanliness requirements
  • Assist in nonconformance identification and reporting (NCRs)
  • Assist with test package preparation and verification
  • Validate boundaries and system limits, All components are installed and documented, Pressure test documentation is complete and accurate
  • Track: Hydrotest / pneumatic test readiness, Flushing and cleaning activities
  • Provide technical support to construction teams during installation
  • Coordinate with: Superintendents and Engineering
  • Assist in resolving: Field installation issues, Design discrepancies and Constructability concerns
  • Generate and maintain: Walkdown reports, Punch lists, System readiness status
  • Ensure all inspection and turnover documentation is: Complete and accurate
  • Participate in: Job briefs, Toolbox talks, Safety meetings
  • Adhere to: Quality Absolutes and Project safety procedures
  • Support safe execution of: Construction installation activities, Pressure testing activities, and System turnover operations
  • Conduct line walks and update punch lists
  • Verify valve orientation, tagging, and installation details
  • Track system status (construction → testing → turnover)
  • Support test package compilation and verification
