About The Position

The CT Clinical Specialist is responsible for maintaining current and up-to-date protocols for all forms of CT imaging. This role involves coordinating and providing technological education and training to all staff and students in the CT department, as well as evaluating their competencies. The specialist will maintain open dialogue with CT Radiologist section leaders and continuously improve their educational and technological abilities relative to current and future CT technology. This position embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Quality, Integrity, and Stewardship.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiography program or a Bachelors of Science in an associated field.
  • R.R.T. certification in Computed Tomography Imaging required.
  • IEMA License required.
  • Maintain BLS CPR Certification.
  • Five (5) years experience as a CT technologist with documented skill advancement in the workplace.
  • Excellent interpersonal, educational and guest relations skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to write and maintain CT imaging protocols.
  • Adaptability to ongoing technological changes.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous physics course work preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of CT procedures on inpatients (General, IMC and ICU) of all ages, according to established standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
  • Perform a variety of CT procedures on outpatients of all ages, according to established standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
  • Perform a variety of CT procedures on ED and Trauma patients of all ages, according to established standards, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain current imaging protocol changes on all MMC operated CT equipment.
  • Maintain an excellent guest relations rapport with patients, visitors, physicians, students and fellow employees.
  • Maintain skills in performing emergency and routine patient care as required.
  • Administer agents / pharmaceuticals under the supervision of the Radiologist.
  • Utilize proper infection control practices per the department procedure manual.
  • Ensure adequate levels of inventory.
  • Monitor the condition of equipment and supplies to ensure the safe and efficient operations of the department; report problems to proper authority.
  • Review and recommend equipment / supply purchases.
  • Ensure the integrity of, proper recording of and transmission of patient information.
  • Participate in flexible work hours that coincide with workload demands, overtime required when necessary.
  • Assume CT call.
  • Maintain current credentials as required by MMC.
  • Participate in continuing education and maintain knowledge of current and new CT technology.
  • Capable of working independently and provide guidance to all CT staff.
  • Coordinate the instruction of students and new employees.
  • Maintain constant open dialogue with Radiologist section heads so as to ensure CT image quality and current protocol accuracy for all MMC operated CT imaging equipment.
  • Performs other related work as required or requested.
