About The Position

This role leads day-to-day production execution at our Libertyville, IL print and fulfillment site. This is a hands-on people leader role with an added technical focus. This role serves as the site’s Print Subject Matter Expert for digital print and finishing. You’ll help the team deliver on-time, high-quality output by setting clear standards, removing operational blockers, and leading structured troubleshooting across printing and finishing systems.

Requirements

  • Able to work on-site in Libertyville, IL in a production environment where priorities can shift.
  • 7+ years of leadership experience in print, production, fulfillment, warehouse, or manufacturing operations (or equivalent).
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in digital print production and finishing/bindery operations.
  • Demonstrate ability to improve quality, reduce waste/rework, and increase throughput.
  • Understand digital print and finishing operations and industry practices, with the ability to translate that knowledge into safe, repeatable production standards.
  • Coach and communication skills with the ability to build capability across shifts.
  • Comfort with operational data and reporting (Excel/Microsoft Office); able to investigate variances and drive action.
  • Possess experience with Canon continuous-feed/roll-fed inkjet, Xerox/Konica cut-sheet toner, and/or Standard Horizon/Baum/MBO finishing equipment; Lean/Six Sigma and/or OEM certifications.
  • Possess schedule flexibility based on business needs; during peak periods, extended schedules (including consecutive days) may be necessary to meet client deadlines.
  • Able to spend frequent time on the production floor and adherence to all site safety and PPE requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Leading a team and the daily operating rhythm for digital print and finishing, with accountability for service, quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Overseeing daily digital print and finishing operations (print production and bindery/finishing) to consistently meet SLAs with exceptional quality and accuracy.
  • Setting clear goals, track results, and continuously improve throughput, cost, and service performance.
  • Planning labor, balance workloads, and remove blockers so teams can execute safely and efficiently across shifts.
  • Troubleshooting production, equipment, and workflow issues; leading root-cause analysis and implement lasting fixes.
  • Owning standardized work for digital print and finishing (SOPs, setup sheets, job aids, checklists). Additionally, ensuring that all standards are trained, followed, and kept current.
  • Leading escalation for complex print/finishing defects and recurring downtime; coordinate with maintenance and OEM/vendor technicians and validate corrective actions.
  • Partnering with other departments to ensure jobs are manufacturable, routed correctly, and built to measurable acceptance criteria (materials, finishing requirements, and workflow steps).
  • Providing comprehensive training and coaching for operators and team leads, ensuring the development and consistent implementation of standardized procedures and practices .
  • Maintaining awareness of digital print and finishing best practices and emerging capabilities; recommend practical improvements aligned to site needs.
