About The Position

Conscious Healing is seeking a part-time evening Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) to join our clinical team. This role is ideal for a certified substance use professional who is passionate about trauma-first substance use disorder treatment, structured recovery support, and helping participants heal at the root as they move toward lasting freedom. Conscious Healing provides trauma-first substance use disorder treatment through PHP, IOP, and ASAP assessments in a recovery-focused clinical environment. We are owned and led by people in recovery and are committed to providing care that reaches beyond symptoms.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) credential or under supervision in Virginia required.
  • Ability to work evening hours.
  • Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Commitment to ethical, recovery-oriented, participant-centered care.
  • Strong written documentation skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience providing substance use disorder counseling services preferred.
  • Experience with group facilitation preferred.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed or trauma-first care principles preferred.
  • Familiarity with DBHDS documentation standards and individualized service planning preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide substance use disorder counseling services to assigned participants within CSAC scope of practice.
  • Facilitate or support group, individual, and/or family-focused services as assigned.
  • Conduct or assist with clinical assessments and biopsychosocial evaluations within required timeframes.
  • Support individualized service planning, treatment plan updates, and discharge planning.
  • Deliver trauma-first, evidence-informed interventions appropriate to the population served.
  • Complete accurate and timely progress notes, treatment plan updates, discharge summaries, and other required documentation.
  • Participate in treatment team meetings, supervision, and case coordination as needed.
  • Coordinate with internal and external providers to support continuity of care.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to crisis or safety concerns using established protocols.
  • Uphold participant rights, including dignity, privacy, confidentiality, and freedom from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.
  • Maintain compliance with Conscious Healing policies, DBHDS expectations, and applicable Virginia Board of Counseling standards.
  • Demonstrate Conscious Healing’s values through clear communication, compassionate accountability, professionalism, compliance, and reliable follow-through.
  • Meet assigned role expectations and scorecard metrics as part of Conscious Healing’s operating rhythm.
