In the absence of a supervisor, the Lead Technician will lead the daily activities of the assigned SPD team or department, including assigning resources, corrective action, and assistance with performance reviews. You will develop skills, such as leadership, teamwork, innovation, and empathy, and make a difference in patients’ lives every day while advancing your career. A caregiver in this position works Days/nights (whichever applies), from 3:00pm to 11:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays. For the first 90-days during new hire training period, a caregiver in this role will work 7:00am to 3:30pm.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Required to have a Sterile Processing certification (e.g. CRCST/CSPDT or CFER/CER) are required and maintained
  • Minimum five-year experience as a sterile processing , central service, and/or surgical technologist preferred. In lieu of five years of experience, two years of experience is required plus a Certificate of Healthcare Leadership must be attained within six months

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties of a Certified CS/SPD Technician.
  • Provide technical expertise for all customers, internal and external.
  • Troubleshoot all processing equipment problems, including washers, sonics, endo processors, cart washers, sterilizers, and the instrument tracking system.
  • Seek ways to eliminate errors, reduce turnaround time, maintain workflow and improve customer service.
  • Follow department standards when processing equipment, instrumentation, and chemicals.
  • Monitor and control supplies and equipment, resolves any related issues.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the proper handling of equipment, instrumentation, and chemicals.
  • Observe personal protective equipment standards in decontamination process.
  • Use the department's instrument and productivity tracking program to maintain accurate records regarding sterilization and set assembly count-sheets.
