About The Position

The United States Agency for Global Media (USAGM) is a global media agency that carries out United States civilian international broadcasting. Our media networks complement and reinforce one another in a shared mission vital to U.S. national interests: to inform, engage, and connect people around the world in support of freedom and democracy. This position is for employment as a personal services contractor with VOA News.

Requirements

  • Fluency in target language (written, spoken) and deep knowledge of the target area, plus the ability to adapt stories into English as assigned, within the time assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, shoot, edit, and deliver complex promotional and marketing content for broadcast, digital, and social media platforms.
  • Lead creative development of station image campaigns, program promotions, special event marketing, and brand initiatives.
  • Develop concepts, scripts, storyboards, and production plans that align with organizational goals and audience engagement strategies.
  • Serve as lead videographer and editor for high-profile productions, special projects, and executive communications.
  • Produce high-quality video, audio, motion graphics, and multimedia content using advanced production and editing techniques.
  • Coordinate production schedules, locations, talent, and technical resources to ensure successful project completion.
  • Collaborate with producers, marketing teams, designers, and leadership to create compelling content that supports programming and strategic initiatives.
  • Writes and produces news and feature content and programming as assigned for use in broadcasts and web and social media.
  • As assigned, during programs, serves as line producer for a complex show incorporating video, audio, effects, multiple remote live sources, etc.
  • Conducts and writes up interviews for inclusion in his/her assigned stories.
  • Adapts and/or translates content produced in English into native language, as assigned.
  • Versions content produced in native language into English for distribution, as assigned.
  • Participates in the creation and development of regularly scheduled or special radio and/or tv programs and/or web and social media sections, as assigned.
  • Voices material for/during broadcasts as assigned, including material prepared by others.
  • Contributes to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material, as assigned.
  • As assigned, edits and approves copy and content prepared or written by others for broadcast and/or publication for inclusion in his/her assigned stories.
  • Contributes finished products meeting standards to production elements of programs and content for broadcast and/or web and social media, including fine editing of taped material and static and motion graphics, as assigned.
  • Performs technical functions including operation of equipment, as assigned.
  • Contributes to teamwork, facilitating tasks of teammates, as needed.
  • Meets VOA standards for productivity, quality, and meeting deadlines.
  • Serves as videographer as assigned.
  • Serves as anchor/program host as assigned.
  • Makes suggestions about policy and workflow improvements.
  • Works independently or as a member of a team.
  • Logs and conducts data entry and other functions connected with VOA’s digital asset management system.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
