About The Position

The Infant and Toddler Connection (ITC) of Greater Prince William is looking for a full-time Early Intervention Supervisor to join our team of early intervention professionals providing specialized services to eligible infants and toddlers with developmental delays and disabilities. This role involves providing support, guidance, communication, and training to vendors, developing and presenting orientation modules for new staff, and supporting ongoing training for all staff. The supervisor will also oversee direct services staff, attend team meetings, and mentor staff as needed. This position performs professional and supervisory work in coordinating, tracking, and monitoring a system of Early Intervention services, offering a range of clinical and supervisory family support services to families of infants and toddlers (ages 0 to 3 years) with developmental disabilities. The goal is to help infants and toddlers develop to their fullest potential. Prince William County Community Services is conveniently located for commuters from Washington, D.C. and Northern Virginia. This position qualifies for a $5,000 hiring bonus, paid in two installments: $2,500 after 90 days of employment and the final $2,500 upon successful completion of the probationary period. The Early Intervention Supervisor provides training and supervision to direct service staff, focusing on specialized clinical skills and techniques, identifying areas of need, and providing mentoring and teaching. They assist the Program Manager/Division Manager in planning and executing system-wide training and staff support, and are responsible for implementing state-required fidelity assessments to ensure best practices. The supervisor provides direct supervision in specific Part C early intervention services related to a clinical specialty (motor or cognitive/communication), identifies needs, and arranges for mentoring. They conduct team meetings, schedule training, and ensure clinical compliance with Medicaid and licensure requirements. Responsibilities include completing direct supervision sessions and performance evaluations, participating in the eligibility committee, and serving as an evaluator in the Assessment for Service Planning. They develop Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs) collaboratively with parents and the multidisciplinary team, demonstrating knowledge of current assessment tools. In IFSP development, they write long-term and short-term clinical goals in various developmental areas. They use electronic equipment for documentation, conduct ongoing clinical interventions in natural learning environments, deliver services using the primary service provider model, and support families using a coaching style. They build joint plans based on family routines and child interests, regularly observe and record child progress, update IFSPs, and utilize authentic assessment practices. They also support vendor agency managers on natural learning environment practices, ensure training and monitoring of contracted providers, and provide state-required oversight for therapist credentialing. Participation in staff and team meetings supports a collaborative approach, and they act as a subject matter expert in their discipline while supporting multi-disciplinary team members. They present to staff on areas of expertise, including information gained from continuing education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Physical, Occupational, or Speech-Language Pathology or Early Childhood Special Education or related VA license/certification to practice physical, occupational, speech-language pathology, early childhood special education or have LCSW, LPC or MFT license
  • 3 or more years of experience working with infants and toddlers in a Part C program or similar human services local/state/federal program
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and pass DMV record check
  • Must pass TB test
  • Must pass and maintain first aid and CPR certification
  • Must pass a fingerprint-based National Criminal History Record Check
  • Must pass a search of the registry of founded complaints of child abuse and neglected maintained by the Department of Social Services

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of supervisory experience in clinical supervision of multi-disciplinary clinical staff
  • Current VA Part C Certification with experience working in a VA EI program

Responsibilities

  • Provide support, guidance, communication, and training to vendors.

  • Complete direct supervision sessions and performance evaluations for assigned therapeutic/developmental services staff in conjunction with the Program Manager/Division Manager.
  • Participate on the eligibility committee to determine eligibility for early intervention services in accordance with current Part C standards.
  • Participate in the Assessment for Service Planning as an evaluator and develop the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) with equal input from parents and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Write long-term and short-term clinical goals for IFSP development in areas of development: social, gross, and fine motor, self-help, cognition, receptive and expressive language, and play.
  • Use assigned electronic equipment (laptop, tablet, phone, etc.) in creating documents to be shared with other team members and families.
  • Conduct ongoing clinical interventions using natural learning environment practices.
  • Deliver services using the primary service provider model.
  • Interact and support families using a coaching style of interaction.
  • Build joint plans based on family routines and child interests.
  • Regularly observe, evaluate, assess, and record the developmental progress of the children, updating the IFSP.
  • Utilize authentic assessment practices in clinical evaluation and treatment in accordance with IFSP outcomes and document accordingly.
  • Provide support to vendor agency managers on the implementation of Natural Learning Environment Practices.
  • Ensure best practices training and monitoring of contracted service providers.
  • Provide state-required oversight of fidelity assessments required for therapist early intervention credentialing.
  • Participate in staff and team meetings to support a collaborative approach to the development of each infant and toddler and in adherence to natural learning environment practices.
  • Participate in meetings as a subject matter expert in their own discipline while also providing support and strategies for multi-disciplinary team members.
  • Present to staff members on areas of expertise and, when applicable, including after pursuing outside continuing education opportunities.
