This is a part-time position in the Nursing Float Pool at Advocate Condell Medical Center. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs and patient data, accurately documenting in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. The position requires maintaining patient call lights, collecting specimens, performing point-of-care testing, completing errands, and maintaining stock for the nursing area. It also involves patient positioning and transporting, assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, and ensuring special patient supplies are provided. Depending on site/unit requirements and under the direction of an RN, duties may include removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and performing bladder scans. The role requires adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and knowledge of sterile and aseptic procedures. The Nursing Assistant must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development.
