About The Position

The Institute of Human Virology (IHV) is recruiting a Clinical Research Unit (CRU) Director. This position will provide strategic, administrative, and fiscal planning and oversight for Clinical Research Unit (CRU) within IHV. UMB is a public university and constituent institution of the University System of Maryland. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Ten (10) years of experience working in an administrative leadership role in a comparable field.
  • Five (5) years of experience in a management/leadership role.

  • Master's or doctorate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Play a central role in strategic planning processes and assist in the development of assessment tools to track progress toward strategic planning goals.
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction for the Clinical Research Unit.
  • Oversee and Manage CRU budget and fiscal stewardship.
  • Manage all activities of staff and implementation of clinical trials.
  • Represent the UMB/IHV/CRU within the university, with pharmaceutical companies, clinical research organizations.
  • Coordinate resources with the senior leadership and staff to ensure maximum support for the major projects.
  • Develop and coordinate organizational effectiveness efforts, including goal deployment and performance measures.
  • Manage the activities of external consultants, assisting with matters of institutional and leadership profile-building and external partnerships.
  • Coordinate external reviews of academic units, which include recruitment of reviewers, synchronization of schedules, preparation of pre-review materials, and compilation of reviewer assessments.
  • Compile information to prepare high-level reports and complete surveys/questionnaires.
