About The Position

Under general direction, responsible for monitoring and enforcing traffic control to safely assist pedestrians at crossing areas. The purpose of this position is to ensure the safety of pedestrians while crossing the roadways.

Requirements

• Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
• No prior education or experience is required
• At time of appointment, a Texas Motor Vehicle Class C Operator's License with a satisfactory driving record maintained throughout employment
• Knowledge of general traffic safety techniques
• Knowledge of basic traffic laws and regulations
• Knowledge of principles and practices for providing a high level of customer service
• Ability to learn and understand traffic safety techniques
• Ability to learn, monitor, and enforce Town regulations, policies, and procedures
• Ability to react to and handle emergencies in a safe and effective manner
• Ability to maintain order and safety in a crowded and noisy environment
• Ability to perform work in an efficient, effective, safe, and timely manner
• Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills and establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective working relationships
• Ability to use English effectively to communicate in person, over the telephone, and in writing

Responsibilities

• Direct and regulate the flow of traffic so pedestrians can safely cross the street
• Remain alert, monitor traffic flow, and direct traffic at appropriate times using signs and motions
• Report road hazards, traffic problems, and safety concerns
• Interact and assist with pedestrians waiting to cross the street
• Receive and provide training
• Assists with Town special events as needed
• Performs related duties as assigned
