About The Position

Provides a security presence at a school complex by walking around the facility, monitoring activities and students, and reporting unauthorized personnel to the school office. Monitors campus activities to help ensure student safety, including identifying safety violations, diffusing situations among students, and reinforcing positive social behavior. Performs minor housekeeping and groundskeeping tasks to keep the environment free of litter and dangerous situations, along with other duties as assigned. Position assignments may vary according to department needs. This is a limited appointment, non-exempt position. Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential duties.
• Knowledge of basic safety and security principles, practices, equipment, and procedures, and customer service principles.
• Skill in recognizing potential security risks.
• Skill in providing customer service.
• Communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to exchange or convey information and receive work direction.
• Depending on assignment, ability to complete Crossing Guard training may be required.
• Applicants recommended for hire will receive instructions on obtaining a fingerprint clearance card as a condition of employment.
