About The Position

The Transportation Supervisor plays a key leadership role in driving daily operations within a fast-paced cross-dock environment. This position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of receiving, warehousing, packaging, and shipping, ensuring exceptional customer service while maintaining cost efficiency. You’ll take ownership of labor planning, scheduling driver and warehouse functions, and contribute to both short-term execution and long-term operational strategy alongside the Operations Manager. This role also offers the opportunity to expand your expertise through cross-training in Transportation and Transportation Management, making it an ideal position for a hands-on leader looking to grow within a dynamic operation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • A minimum of three (3) years of leading and supervising in a warehouse/transportation environment
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience working with a warehouse management system (WMS)
  • Forklift operator certificate and/or license required
  • Ability to build credible relationships with customers and develop high-performing, engaged teams
  • Strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring adherence to safety standards, and proactively mitigating risks
  • Ability to evaluate alternatives and make sound decisions considering labor, cost, customer expectations, and overall business impact
  • Demonstrated analytical ability with strong attention to detail and advanced computer skills
  • Solid judgment with proven problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to act with a sense of urgency to effectively resolve internal and external customer issues
  • Proven track record of taking initiative and ownership, both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to produce professional reports and correspondence
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Deep commitment to continuous improvement and LEAN principles

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the workload of up to 9-15 associates by assigning work functions to all staff as necessary to meet the needs of our customers
  • Provide the highest quality service to our customers through efficient, cost-effective, accurate, and damage-free storage of products
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following company safety policies and procedures
  • Ensure departmental key performance indicators (KPI) are being met
  • Use and ensure WMS, TruckMate, and PeopleNet systems are updated accurately and promptly
  • Assist with the implementation and coordination of special projects, such as physical inventory and new accounts
  • Identify needs and make recommendations regarding department procedures and process changes
  • Ensure accurate inventory levels by maintaining accurate counts in the warehouse management system (WMS)
  • Manage inventory control issues and corrections
  • Train new hires to ensure understanding of company processes and procedures
  • Conduct employee performance evaluations and corrective action
  • Recognize and motivate associates
  • Perform all other duties and projects as assigned
