About The Position

Kahler Middle School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our coaching staff as a temporary assistant coach for the Middle School Girls Cross Country team. This seasonal position is ideal for someone passionate about athletics and committed to fostering a positive and supportive environment for young athletes. The assistant coach will work closely with the head coach to develop the skills and potential of our student-athletes while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal growth.

Requirements

• Previous coaching experience in track and field or related sports, preferably at the middle school level.
• Strong knowledge of track and field events, techniques, and training methodologies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a coaching team and engage with parents and the school community.
• First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to the season).
• A commitment to the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and personal development.
• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends during the season, including attending all practices and competitions.
• A background check and compliance with school district policies are required prior to employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in planning and implementing daily practice sessions, ensuring a safe and productive environment for all athletes.
• Provide instruction and support in various track and field events, helping athletes improve their techniques and performance.
• Monitor and encourage student-athletes’ physical and mental well-being, fostering a positive team culture.
• Help organize and supervise team activities, including meets, practices, and team bonding events.
• Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding schedules, expectations, and athlete progress.
• Assist in maintaining equipment and facilities, ensuring they are safe and ready for use.
• Attend all practices and competitions, providing guidance and support to athletes during events.
• Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect among athletes, coaches, and officials.
