Under general direction, plans, organizes, coordinates, and participates in the District’s Cross Connection/Backflow Prevention Program and associated administrative activities; coordinates, schedules and conducts cross connection surveys of the District’s water system; tests and inspects backflow devices for compliance with regulations; communicates and responds to public inquiries related to the program; provides staff assistance to the Water Operations Superintendent in areas of expertise; performs related work as required. This classification is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing the District’s Cross Connection/Backflow Prevention Program/CCCMP. Incumbents work under direction and exercise a higher level of discretion and independent judgment in performing the full range of technical and administrative tasks. Work requires in-depth knowledge of District functions, and specialized knowledge of the technical aspects of inspection and enforcement including policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver work products or services. Work is typically reviewed upon completion for soundness, appropriateness, and conformity to policy and requirements.
