About The Position

Avis Budget Group is seeking a Lead Engineer for its CRO & Experimentation team, responsible for the technical execution and quality assurance of experiments across web and app for Avis.com and Budget.com. The role is accountable for ensuring experiments are built and validated correctly, whether the work is performed directly or coordinated through internal IT, IT/QA, or third-party delivery partners. The position works closely with CRO Managers, designers, analysts, Product Management, and IT/QA, applying a test-and-learn mindset and strong technical rigor.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building A/B and multivariate tests in Adobe Target, Optimizely, or a comparable web testing platform.
• Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript sufficient to build and troubleshoot front-end experiment variations.
• Familiarity with experimentation across web and app platforms, or strong aptitude to learn app-based testing approaches.
• Experience directing or coordinating the work of other engineers or delivery partners.
• Familiarity with tagging and analytics implementation, such as GA4, Adobe Analytics, or tag management systems.
• Strong attention to detail and a QA mindset, including accountability for QA outcomes when another person executes the build or testing.
• Ability to coordinate work across internal teams, Product engineering, and external delivery partners.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple concurrent experiment builds across regions and platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead the build and QA of A/B and multivariate tests across global regions.
• Build experiment variants from approved designs across web and app.
• Ensure experiments are implemented accurately and tracking is correct from launch, regardless of who performs the work.
• Build simple front-end variations as well as more complex, multi-page or personalization-driven experiences.
• Direct and coordinate third-party delivery partners, ensuring their work meets internal tracking and QA standards.
• Coordinate with internal IT resources on more complex technical builds as needed.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with live experiments.
• Own QA for every experiment, including implementing and validating tracking and tagging before launch.
• Coordinate with the IT/QA team on regression and cross-site testing.
• Monitor active experiments for conflicts across concurrent tests.
• Align with CRO Managers on build priorities, timelines, tracking, and measurement setup.
• Partner with UX and Design to ensure experiments are built to specification.
• Support the handoff of successful tests to Product Management for permanent, production-grade implementation.
• Stay current on testing platform capabilities, tools, and best practices.
• Suggest process or tooling improvements to increase build efficiency and quality.
