The CRNA (Casual) provides anesthesia care and supervises peers to ensure quality. This role involves practicing within the scope regulated by state boards for nurse anesthetists, reviewing and adhering to center policies, and maintaining comprehensive patient care documentation. The position requires knowledge of and proper use of equipment essential for patient safety within the endoscopy center, completion of in-service training on emergency procedures and evacuation plans, and maintaining BLS and ACLS certifications. Proof of required Continuing Medical Education Units and completion of in-services for staff are necessary to maintain accreditation. The CRNA must possess experience in current anesthesia techniques and agents, demonstrate sound judgment and response in emergency situations, and collaborate with the RN to manage anesthetic medications. This role reports directly to the Director of Nursing and supports the organization's mission and goals through direct patient care, including assessing physical and psychosocial status, monitoring patients pre-procedure, during, and post-procedure, and ordering necessary CLIA-waived tests. Maintaining a safe anesthesia environment, managing anesthesia cart equipment and medications, and recognizing/acting on abnormal patient responses are key functions. The CRNA is responsible for accurate medical record documentation, patient and family education regarding anesthesia, and obtaining informed consent. High-level communication skills in American English are required. The role also includes participating in the orientation and precepting of new CRNA employees, adhering to infection control principles, participating in peer review for quality of anesthesia care, supporting Risk Management initiatives, evaluating grievances to improve patient care, overseeing CRNA staff schedules and requests, participating in CRNA onboarding and evaluations, issuing counseling as needed, and participating in quality improvement committees. Performs all other duties as assigned.
