About The Position

Cleveland Clinic is currently seeking CRNAs for opportunities at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, Ohio. Hillcrest Hospital is a tertiary care facility and a Level 2 Trauma Center, known for its exceptional healthcare services. The role involves administering anesthetic care for diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical procedures. The hospital offers a diverse range of cases, including a busy and high-risk OB department. There is a collaborative work environment where CRNAs, CAAs, and MDAs share responsibilities. CRNAs have the opportunity to participate in committees and process improvement initiatives. The schedule offers flexibility, with most CRNAs working four 10-hour shifts or a combination of two 8-hour and two 12-hour shifts per week. Occasional weekend call from home is required, typically an 8-hour shift once every 4-5 weeks. Cleveland Clinic is an eligible employer for PSLF (Public Student Loan Forgiveness).

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited CRNA program.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse (RN) and a certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) from the Ohio Board of Nursing.
  • Current certification and continued professional certification (CPC) with the National Board of Certification Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) and State Board of Nursing endorsement.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) are required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through American Academy of Pediatrics certifications may be required based upon work setting.
  • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

  • Requires full range of motion; manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
  • Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time and the ability to lift and transport patients.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
  • Ability to work under extreme pressure.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Responsibilities

  • Administers anesthetic care for the purpose of facilitating diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures.
  • Performs and documents a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient.
  • Develops and implements an anesthetic plan of care, including monitoring modalities and post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care.
  • Selects, obtains and administers the anesthetic plan of care, including induction, maintenance and emergence phase anesthesia.
  • Recognizes alterations in physiologic responses to the surgical procedure and/or the anesthetic, takes appropriate action and notifies the responsible physician as indicated.
  • Other duties as assigned.
