Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering field required.
  • 3 to 5 years of direct industry experience in electrical engineering, specifically managing critical power systems, electrical distribution, and mission-critical infrastructure in operational environments.
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical systems within critical facilities, including power distribution, UPS systems, generators, automatic transfer switches (ATS), static transfer switches (STS), and emergency power systems.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical systems, building controls, fire safety, and security systems as they integrate with electrical infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Building Automation Systems (BAS) and integrated facility management platforms.
  • Technically proficient in planning and scheduling, with excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead and coordinate meetings and effectively facilitate progress toward achieving scheduled goals.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and adaptability.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with internal airport administration groups and effectively engage with customers and contractors to reach mutually acceptable terms and conditions.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Project.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus.
  • Electrical certifications (PE license, Master Electrician, or equivalent) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite field coordination, supervision, and project management support for the operation of airport critical electrical infrastructure and supporting systems.
  • Oversee the management of mission-critical electrical equipment and power systems vital to airport operations, including power distribution, UPS systems, generators, switchgear, PDUs, and associated life safety and building management systems.
  • Lead the integration and management of electrical systems and the physical environment, addressing issues related to power infrastructure, life safety, mechanical integration, and system redundancy.
  • Analyze and report discrepancies and trends in electrical system performance to the operations team and key stakeholders, providing insights for proactive improvements.
  • Manage preventative and emergency maintenance schedules and procedures for all critical electrical systems.
  • Identify and manage backup and replacement inventory needs for essential electrical components to ensure continuity.
  • Oversee all maintenance schedules and coordinate with external providers to ensure high standards of service delivery.
  • Provide on-call support (24/7) to promptly address critical electrical incidents and emergencies.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Emergency Recovery Procedures (ERPs), and Method of Procedures (MOPs), ensuring consistency and best practices for airport critical electrical infrastructure operations.
  • Oversee and coordinate with electrical subcontractors, ensuring proper equipment installation and the high-quality delivery of maintenance services across all critical systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical emergencies, equipment malfunctions, and technical issues, then organize and oversee swift resolutions to minimize impact on airport operations.
  • Provide ongoing technical support, management, and oversight of vendors as necessary, ensuring service level agreements are met.
  • Conduct inspections of critical infrastructure to ensure operational readiness and identify potential issues.
  • Manage and oversee all scheduled maintenance activities (monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, and annually) for critical electrical equipment, including: Generator operating tests and load bank testing, UPS/ATS/STS transfer tests and operation, Switchgear inspections and testing, Power quality monitoring and analysis, Infrared thermography inspections.
  • Provide field technical support related to redundancy, reliability, and maintainability for the airport's critical electrical infrastructure, focusing on: Meeting current operational needs and preparing for future electrical demands, Contributing to long-term strategic planning and electrical infrastructure development, Achieving and maintaining equipment uptime and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Serve as the administrator for onsite Critical Facility safety compliance (Qualified Electrical Worker training, NFPA, etc.)
