The Critical Operations Engineer I assists in the operational integrity, security, and regulatory compliance of the data center. This role requires a strong knowledge of telecommunications, mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems, as well as data center operating procedures. The position is for the Night Shift, 11:00 pm - 7:30 am, Sunday - Thursday. The engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the data center, including facilities and telecommunication infrastructure. Responsibilities are wide-ranging and multi-disciplinary, covering mechanical systems (chilled water, HVAC, central plant), electrical systems (power distribution from utility/generator through UPS to customer load), fire life safety systems (sprinkler systems and detection devices), and telecommunications (cross-connects, cabling infrastructure, remote hands, customer cage/cabinet build-outs). Duties include customer infrastructure build-outs, cable termination and testing, maintenance, monitoring, and responding to system anomalies. The role involves managing systems to prevent outages, utilizing a CMMS system, providing customer service, conducting facility tours, assisting with database management, and ensuring cooling system efficiency. Specific tasks include trouble ticket and remote hands management, circuit path creation/verification, power installation coordination, work order completion, infrastructure projects, cage/cabinet build-outs, rack and stack, and inventory management. The engineer will also be responsible for incident escalation, response, report writing, and managing building service requests. This role requires adherence to CoreSite's Principles of Operational Excellence and providing applied mechanical and integrated control expertise.
