The Critical Mechanical Systems Specialist leads mechanical systems readiness for new capacity and ongoing reliability across data center sites. The role provides commissioning oversight, drives new-site onboarding and transition, and conducts site inspections and audits to identify performance, efficiency, and reliability risks involving chilled-water plants, CRAH/CRAC systems, cooling towers, heat-rejection systems, and controls/BMS. The specialist ensures mechanical designs meet operational standards and that documentation and training are complete for Day 1 operations. The position develops and conducts commissioning for infrastructure projects at operational data centers, validates operational procedures after turnover and before customer load deployment, and helps standardize mechanical turnover documentation, repository storage, operator training, and readiness. It bridges design and operations by documenting field changes, communicating operational impacts, and closing readiness gaps before hand-off. The specialist coordinates with Design & Construction, Commissioning, Site Operations, and Reliability Engineering to align standards and improve readiness playbooks, while continually evaluating processes and recommending improvements to data center design and equipment operation and efficiency. The role supports 24×7 operations, with occasional on-call rotation and night or weekend work. It involves working in mechanical and electrical rooms around energized systems while following LOTO and NFPA 70E, and travel to supported sites of approximately 50%.
