About The Position

This position is responsible for utilizing advanced skills to perform preventative and corrective maintenance of all electrical, mechanical, and HVAC equipment for assigned data centers, ensuring mission-critical uptime of 99.999% or higher. Responsibilities include vendor management, scheduling, and documentation control. The role requires building and maintaining a strong working relationship with the Data Center Technician (DCT) and providing hands-on training as needed. The engineer will have 24x7 on-call responsibility for the facility and will monitor and maintain the operations, maintenance, and repair of all mission-critical equipment and systems to support data center operators in achieving 99.999% uptime and 100% compliance with customer SLAs. This includes vendor relationship management, interpreting technical documents, driving operational excellence, identifying constraints, proposing solutions, assisting in disaster recovery exercises and commissioning efforts, maintaining AHJ requirements, and implementing change windows per company policies. The engineer will also assist in provisioning power for customer orders and other electrical modifications, ensuring a safe work environment, and participating in off-hours and weekend maintenance activities. Reporting on customer utilization, including space and power, and preparing Method of Procedures (MOP) & Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for maintenance and operational aspects are also key duties. Performing facility rounds to ensure proper equipment operation, aesthetics, and cleanliness, as well as monitoring/alerting of facility equipment, are expected. Requirements

  • 2 Years of data center experience
  • 4+ years of experience with root cause analysis and troubleshooting/problem solving
  • Experience working with building automation
  • 4+ years of experience within a critical infrastructure environment.
  • An understanding of the electrical and mechanical systems involved in critical data center operations, including systems such as feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, ATS units, PDU units, chillers, pumps, air handling units, and CRAH units.
  • Applicable military experience
  • Applicable trade experience
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Walk or Stand for 50% of the time
  • Moderate or advanced keyboard usage
  • Lift 50 lbs.
  • Travel 5% of the time
  • Must possess valid driver's license and insurance.

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical or mechanical certifications
  • Associates degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience working in data centers with an emphasis on building and equipment operation

Responsibilities
