About The Position

AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This team supports all AWS data centers and the associated servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. The role involves working on challenging problems within a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers. Collaboration across AWS is key to maintaining high standards of safety and security while providing scalable capacity at a low cost. The team fosters an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and empowers employees to see them through to completion. As an Amazon Critical Infrastructure Engineer, you will provide full life-cycle support for AWS Data Centers, from initial design through site improvements and maintenance. You will serve as the primary engineering resource for your region, offering technical advice and engaging with various teams. Your responsibilities will include coordinating acoustical mitigation requirements, supporting utilities, determining equipment locations, and creating detailed construction specifications for sound and acoustics. You will also review all design disciplines to ensure compliance with site acoustic requirements, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for acoustic issues, and develop corrective actions. Furthermore, you will own design solutions for acoustic retrofit projects, initiate and lead acoustic audits with on-site visits, produce risk assessment reports with recommended mitigations, develop innovative solutions for AWS data centers, manage concurrent projects across multiple regions, and support training programs.

Requirements

  • Valid and active driver's license
  • Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related engineering or scientific discipline
  • 1+ year of experience in acoustics, noise control, or environmental noise assessment (internships and co-ops count)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Advanced Excel, SQL, Tableau, Python
  • Master's degree in Acoustics, Noise Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field
  • Coursework or project experience in environmental noise, sound propagation, or building acoustics
  • Familiarity with acoustic modeling software (e.g., CadnaA, SoundPLAN, ODEON, or similar)
  • Experience with sound level meters and field measurement techniques (e.g., Larson Davis, B&K, or equivalent instrumentation)
