As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Critical Facility Manager to join our team and drive our relationships with hyperscale clients to new heights. The Critical Facility Manager (CFM) is responsible for ensuring that selective electrical, mechanical, access systems, doors, building systems, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center is operating at peak efficiency. This involves both planned preventative maintenance of equipment, daily corrective work, and emergency response to emergent issues. The Critical Facility Manager serves as a technical resource and team leader reporting to the Account Director and leading the onsite Critical Facility Technicians (CFT) and any third-party vendors. They are expected to be a singular focal point for all facility operations within a given data center. Data center equipment that supports mission-critical servers must maintain better than 99.999% uptime. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, standby diesel generators, switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, chemical treatment systems, pumps, motors, VFDs, and building automation systems.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent with two years of technical school with an emphasis on mission-critical operations, industrial manufacturing, or relevant military operations experience in electrical and mechanical systems.
  • 5 - 7 years’ progressive, hands-on experience in critical, data center operations, maintenance, and engineering supporting complex critical facilities operations, required
  • 3 - 5 years of experience as a Critical Facilities Lead Engineer, ACFM, or other relevant critical facility infrastructure leadership experience.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience in O & M of large, complex data center operations environments

Responsibilities

  • Directly accountable for the supervision and management of Critical Facilities Technicians and Suppliers.
  • Assigns staff appropriately for proper coverage of the Data Center operational requirements.
  • Takes responsibility for overall professional development, career path development plans, professional certifications, and Professional License retention requirements of all Critical Facility Personnel.
  • Takes responsibility for on-going evaluation of personnel performance, performance improvement plan development, and oversight personnel disciplinary action, up to and including termination and writing and performing annual performance evaluations of all Critical Facility personnel.
  • Commands a Critical Infrastructure Subject Matter Expert (SME) presence. Regularly displays command and control of the critical facility operations.
  • Fully embrace Salute’s Critical Facility Program Methodology (“The Playbook”) and the self-performance philosophy.
  • Continually demonstrates leadership through leading Critical Facilities Technicians and suppliers in achieving a Culture of Excellence.
  • Continually leads by example and actively participates in on-going professional development and promotes the same level of engagement among the Data Center Operations Team.
  • Provides direct, on-site, coordination, supervision, and project management support for critical facility operations of a data center environment.
  • Accepts direct accountability for the management and operations, preventative maintenance program implementation, and life-cycle management of critical facility assets associated with a data center environment.
  • Implements Salute Data Center Operations Playbook and secures 100% site adoption by all Critical Facilities Technicians and suppliers.
  • Tracks Critical Facility metrics and KPI’s and delivers to Account Director. Anomalies or discrepancies are reported to the Account Director immediately upon determination.
  • Manages preventative maintenance schedules, corrective maintenance actions, and break-fix incident response for all critical facility related systems.
  • Identifies critical spare parts inventory needs and tracks on-hand supply and usage deployment using the CMMS Platform.
  • Participates in regular updates and an annual refresh of standard processes and best practices.
  • Coordinates suppliers when required and ensures compliance with the Salute Data Center Operations Playbook to ensure proper alignment with Salute approved process and industry best-practices when providing preventative, corrective, or emergency maintenance services at a client’s critical facility.
  • Accountable for operating and protecting the client’s/tenant’s critical load, delivering 100% uptime while also delivering 100% client satisfaction.
  • Responsible for creating Method of Procedure’s (MOP’s), Standard Operating Procedure’s (SOP’s), and Emergency Operating Procedure’s (EOP’s) and maintaining those procedures in their most current state in the CMMS Platform.
  • Creates, publishes, maintains, Critical Facility Work Rules and refreshes annually; while ensuring that Critical Facilities Technicians and Suppliers fully comply with the Critical Facility Work Rules.
  • Directly accountable for ensuring safety compliance of all processes, systems, preventative measures, and adherence by site personnel and suppliers to Salute Environmental Health and Safety Policies.
  • Supports client’s equipment Life Cycle Replacement Strategy using the CMMS Platform.
  • Takes responsibility for (on-site) vendor management and performance standards. Takes Responsibility for ensuring vendors adhere to The Playbook, Critical Facility Work Rules, and all EH&S Policies associated with the site.
