About The Position

As a CO+I CE Energy Marshall, you will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 1+ year(s) technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Control of Hazardous Energy in complex mission critical infrastructure
  • Experience with the operation and maintenance of building MEP systems. (Power distribution, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, security, life safety, controls systems and sprinkler systems)
  • Understanding of electrical theory and practical application via your maintenance & operation of critical electrical equipment. (Paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS systems, DC battery strings, multi-source electrical utility switchgear, standby diesel generators, etc.)
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, terminology, and documentation (blueprints, electrical one-lines, construction drawings etc.)
  • Practical experience with building management systems and automation, controls & frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and assures the overall compliance of Microsoft’s Energy Isolation Program and establish acceptance criteria for authorizing campus Energy Isolation Plan.
  • Implements learnings, provides consistency, and drives rigor into Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program and ensures program meets or exceeds company safety policy requirements.
  • Utilise local code and standards as the foundation for Microsoft’s Energy Isolation program that is implemented throughout the campus.
  • Establish with the Engineering team a centralized Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedure with all campus entities and determine if a group or individual LOTO procedure will be required.
  • Commencement of energy isolation activities with updates on a continuous basis.
  • Liaise with Microsoft construction team where Energy Isolation activities may potentially impact data center core operations.
  • Act in coordination with the Engineering team as a subject matter expert in all energy isolation incident investigations in area of responsibility.
  • Participate in high-risk activity (HRA) planning meetings associated with energy isolation.
  • Ensures high-risk SOWs, SOPs and MOPs are reviewed, and all sources of energy are identified.
  • Ensure a process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personnel performing the work.
  • Generate monthly reports highlighting activities and general status of energy isolation program.
