About The Position
Burlington Emergency & Veterinary Specialists is looking to add a Veterinary Criticalist who brings sharp clinical thinking, fresh ideas, and the kind of presence that makes a team better. As Vermont's only specialty and 24/7 emergency animal hospital, BEVS is where the region's most complex cases end up. BEVS offers advanced on-site equipment and imaging including MRI, CT, ultrasound, endoscopy, laparoscopy, and radioiodine (I-131) therapy. BEVS is a referral destination for Vermont and the wider region, with a multidisciplinary specialty bench including internal medicine, surgery, emergency & critical care, neurology, dentistry, and ophthalmology. Founded in 1999 by local veterinarians, BEVS has medical leadership focused on doctor development, mentorship, and hospital culture.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree
- Board Certified or Board Eligible Diplomate, American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care (DACVECC)
- Ability to attain VT Veterinary License
Responsibilities
- Help build out and lead a formalized critical care service — developing protocols and case-management standards in collaboration with our ER and specialty teams
- Manage complex and critical patients requiring advanced monitoring, stabilization, and intervention
- Effectively communicate and work with staff members in a positive team driven approach to maximize patient care and client satisfaction
- Communicate with referring veterinarians
- Participate in ongoing professional development. Our specialists work closely with developing doctors through mentorship — including our structured EDGE program, which offers ER doctors hands-on and didactic rotations through specialty services.
