About The Position

The Critical Care Tech supports patient care under the direct supervision of licensed nurses and in accordance with established policies and procedures. The role includes assisting patients with bathing, mouth care, ambulation, toileting, feeding, vital signs, blood glucose measurements, and transportation, as well as performing ECGs and phlebotomy. The technician is expected to demonstrate Decatur Morgan Hospital’s mission, vision, and values through their behavior.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• No previous experience required.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Able to care for patients of all ages.
• Able to act quickly in emergencies and render appropriate life-saving measures.
• Able to understand technical information and follow precise instructions.
• Able to record and interpret information accurately.
• Able to communicate with patients, families, visitors, and staff.
• Able to change duties frequently and use manual dexterity for job tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care with minimal supervision and within established policies.
• Accurately measure and record vital signs.
• Collect specimens as directed.
• Respond promptly to call lights and provide timely assistance.
• Report patient changes, problems, complaints, or requests to appropriate personnel.
• Assist with equipment maintenance.
• Perform electrocardiograms (ECGs).
• Perform phlebotomy.
• Assist patients with bathing, mouth care, ambulation, toileting, feeding, blood glucose measurements, and transportation.
