This is a full-time Critical Care Step Down RN position at Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in the Critical Care: ICU department. The role involves engaging in unit councils, professional governance, and quality initiatives to improve care processes and apply evidence-based practices. The RN will utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate nursing care, engaging patients and families throughout the continuum of care. Key responsibilities include monitoring patient conditions, adjusting care plans, mobilizing resources, collaborating with the care team, and upholding a culture of safety. The position requires continuous evaluation of patient, team, and unit outcomes, safe administration of medications and treatments, effective communication, and pursuit of professional development. Ethical decision-making, respect for interdisciplinary roles, and appropriate delegation are also essential. Accurate and timely EHR documentation is required. The RN may be required to float to other units to meet patient care needs and must demonstrate knowledge of age-specific care. The role involves working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and requires strong clinical judgment, critical thinking, time management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
