About The Position

Looking for an alternative to bedside nursing? If you're ready for a change from the hospital, there's a place to use your nursing skills where the focus is one patient at a time. As a Critical Care Transport RN with Northwest Ambulance, you'll practice at the top of your license and manage complex critical care patients. This role offers the same acuity and critical thinking as ICU or ER nursing, but in a completely different environment. If you're an ICU or ER nurse who's tired of the hospital but still wants real clinical work and real patient acuity, we'd love to talk with you. Requirements

• Active and unencumbered RN license.
• 3 years of experience in a critical care or emergency department environment.
• Certified in ACLS and PALS prior to hire.
• Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when necessary.
• Ability to function well in a high-paced and stressful environment.
• Ability to calculate weight and volume ratios and read small print.
• Ability to read and converse in English.
• Ability to read road maps, street signs, and address numbers.
• Ability to document information in writing in the prescribed format.
• Ability to learn, use, and be proficient in all patient care equipment.
• Ability to understand and retain instructions in a timely and accurate manner.
• Prolonged periods of sitting in a vehicle and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
• Ability to bend and stoop, ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time, possess hand-eye-foot coordination and color recognition, good manual dexterity, with the ability to perform all tasks related to Emergency Medical Services Duty.

Nice To Haves

• Certified CEN and/or CCRN preferred.
• Patient transport experience preferred.
• BSN preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with an Emergency Medical Technician and Dispatch to respond to assigned calls, assess patients, and deliver skilled critical care nursing during interfacility transport.
• Supervise the care, ongoing assessment, and treatment of the patient en route to the receiving facility.
• Provide patient care at a critical care / advanced life support level during interfacility transport.
• Deliver care using critical care nursing skills, ACLS protocols, company protocols, transport orders, and pharmacological knowledge.
• Coordinate directly with physicians, nurses, allied health staff, patients, and family members to maintain a safe transport environment.
• Safely lift, transfer, and maneuver patients in and out of ambulances, facilities, and residences.
• Operate the emergency vehicle safely at all times and respond to dispatch instructions.
• Complete accurate, timely documentation in accordance with company policy.
• Maintain vehicles, stations, communications equipment, medical equipment, and supplies to Northwest Ambulance standards.
• Follow Northwest Ambulance policies and procedures, including Washington State and County EMS protocols.
• Attend and participate in continuing education.
• Maintain strict confidentiality of patient information and company operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
