About The Position

Utilizing leadership, training, and direction provided by MedFleet Ambulance leadership and MedFleet Ambulance Medical Director, the CCT-RN administers patient care and is responsible for all patient care activities during the care and transport patients by MedFleet Ambulance Critical Care Transport Team.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of professional nursing practice and theory.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of patient transport operations.
  • Ability to assess, plan, organize, implement and evaluate patient care activities.
  • Ability to function independently; to prioritize, delegate and utilize critical thinking skills in a variety of patient care situations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to use electronic health record/documentation effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with fellow personnel, patients and their families, hospital staff, the public and other collaborating agencies.
  • Current and unrestricted Florida RN license
  • Current BLS provider status
  • Current ACLS provider status
  • Current PALS provider status
  • Minimum three years of critical care nursing experience (i.e., ICU, CCU, or Emergency Department)
  • Management of the unstable cardiac patient
  • Management of the unstable patient of other etiologies
  • Management of the patient requiring mechanical ventilatory support
  • Management of the patient requiring non-invasive hemodynamic monitoring

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in a critical care specialty (i.e., CCRN, CEN, CTRN/CFRN)
  • Pediatric critical care and Labor & Delivery experience
  • Critical care transport experience
  • Prehospital experience
  • BSN/Advanced education background (APRN)

Responsibilities

  • The CCT-RN will provide high quality, holistic patient care to the CCT patient in the transport environment in accordance with established CCT program policies, medical protocols and standing orders, standards of care, and direction provided by the sending/receiving physician(s).
  • Provides patient care within the RN scope of practice as defined by the Florida Board of Registered Nursing and per CCT medical protocols and standing orders, utilizing sound nursing practice and critical thinking skills to manage the critically ill or injured adult/pediatric patient.
  • Responds to CCT calls as directed by MedFleet Ambulance Communications Center.
  • Maintains current knowledge of and complies with all company policies and procedures, codes of conduct, safe practice, and applicable CCT policies and protocols.
  • Performs unit checkout on the CCT and assists with maintaining all biomedical equipment and supplies to ensure CCT ambulance ready status.
  • Provide oversight to Paramedics and EMTs on the CCT ambulance to ensure compliance with BLS and ALS policies and procedures for critical care transports.
  • Administers and completes documentation for Controlled Substances per MedFleet Ambulance’s policy.
  • Participates in continuing education and training activities as required.
  • Participates in company-sponsored safety and risk management training as required.
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills with all external and internal customers, including patients and their families, hospital staff, the community, Paramedics and EMT's, and MedFleet Ambulance administration.
  • Participates in CCT quality improvement activities.
  • Ensures that all required patient care documentation is completed per CCT policy.
  • Maintains all required licensure and certifications in accordance with Florida state law and company policy.
  • Represents MedFleet Ambulance’s CCT program in a professional manner.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
