About The Position

The Critical Care Resource & Vascular Access Nurse Specialist oversees and coordinates daily clinical and operational activities in the assigned area, collaborating with the multi-disciplinary team including providers, nursing and ancillary staff. This role plays a key part in ensuring efficient patient flow, resource readiness, quality outcomes, and exceptional patient care. This position is per diem and ideal for a nursing professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at coordinating clinical operations, and is passionate about ensuring patients receive high-quality, efficient care. Starting hourly rate is $58.92 and the actual compensation offered may vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and experience.

Requirements

  • License to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York
  • Certification or eligibility for Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of one (1) year of full-time nursing experience in an oncology support setting; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of two (2) years of full-time nursing experience in an acute care support setting; or
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of three (3) years of full-time nursing experience in an oncology support setting; or
  • Associate’s degree in Nursing and the equivalent of four (4) years of full-time nursing experience in an acute care support setting.
  • Incumbents must obtain and maintain applicable certification, as required by area of specialty, within eighteen (18) months of appointment to this position as a condition of continued employment in this title.
  • As a condition of continued employment, incumbents must obtain certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) within six (6) months of their appointment to this title.
  • Required degrees must have been granted by an accredited school, college or university or one recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as following acceptable educational practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Four or more years of oncology and/or intensive care unit (ICU) nursing experience
  • Current CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification

Responsibilities

  • Arranges, manages and facilitates the sequencing of procedures and verifies that clinical resources are available and properly prepared, including equipment, supplies and the appropriate personnel for the procedure.
  • Manages day-to-day departmental/unit operational flow and allocation of resources.
  • Manages day-to-day staffing needs of the area to ensure the unit is able to meet patient care needs.
  • Provides leadership in quality metrics for the assigned area.
  • Uses advanced knowledge and critical thinking skills to perform the parts of the nursing process.
