About The Position

Saint Vincent's Medical Center is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a strong, collaborative team of Critical Care Intensivists. The successful candidate will provide holistic, high quality care to critically ill patients admitted to the critical care unit. With your comprehensive knowledge of acute critical care conditions, diagnostics & treatments, you will be expected to diagnose, treat, and manage acute & chronic diseases, perform procedures, order and interpret diagnostic tests, speak to patients & families about their conditions, and collaborate with a variety of consultants.

Requirements

  • Unrestricted State of Connecticut Medical License (or eligible)
  • Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner training
  • 1+ years as an advanced practice provider in a critical care setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Neurocritical care experience highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic, high quality care to critically ill patients admitted to the critical care unit.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage acute & chronic diseases.
  • Perform procedures.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests.
  • Speak to patients & families about their conditions.
  • Collaborate with a variety of consultants.
  • Perform routine physical examinations.
  • Formulate medical, educational, and psychosocial plans to treat patients.
  • Develop plans for further evaluation of health needs, e.g., referral to other health team members or specialists.
  • Provide appropriate treatment for problems within the scope of the provider’s practice as designated by protocols.
  • Identify problems outside of their scope of practice and refer appropriately to physician.
