About The Position

The Critical Care Paramedic role involves ensuring personal and public safety, performing patient assessments and emergency care, safe patient handling and transport, meticulous record-keeping, and patient advocacy. This position requires leadership, mentoring abilities for other paramedics and EMTs, and the capacity to provide exceptional care to high-acuity patients. Effective communication with physicians and other healthcare professionals is essential.

Requirements

• Current Alabama license as a Critical Care Paramedic
• FPC/CCP-C, ACLS, PALS, BLS, BTLS/PHTLS
• 3 years as a licensed Paramedic
• 1 year as a primary care provider in the pre-hospital environment
• Capable of working overtime as required
• Flexible to scheduling to meet the department and hospital staffing needs
• Available for on-call when required
• Possess knowledge of, or the ability to gain, skills necessary to administer care under critical care protocols and guidelines established by the medical director and/or the ADPH
• Specialized equipment
• Advanced medications
• Intubation
• IV and intraosseous access
• Advanced cardiac monitoring
• Complex ventilator management
• Providing dynamic patient assessments
• Radiology interpretation
• Rapid decision making and planning

• Exceptional patient assessment skills
• Exceptional airway management skills and knowledge
• Ability to provide care to high acuity patients
• Ability to provide ventilator management
• Ability to manage various IV pumps
• Ability to manage the administration of multiple medications and blood products simultaneously
• Knowledge of various medications associated with emergency and/or critical care
• Must be approved by the EMS Medical Director through continued evaluation
