About The Position

Superior Ambulance Service, a leading independent emergency medical services provider in the Midwest, is seeking Critical Care Paramedics (CCT) for openings in multiple locations across Illinois. As an EMT or Paramedic, you will provide safe transportation and quality medical care to sick and injured individuals within the scope of state EMS regulations. Superior provides the highest quality care in emergencies and scheduled medical transports, including Critical Care, helicopter, and fixed-wing emergency medical transportation. The CCT Paramedic will provide high-quality care to patients in the transport environment under the direction of the Program Medical Director and referring/receiving Physician, adhering to Critical Care policies, protocols, and standards of care. This role involves autonomously evaluating critically ill or injured patients of all age groups, providing therapeutic and emergency interventions, and preparing them for transport. Maintaining clinical proficiency across all aspects of the Critical Care Division’s scope of practice, including various emergency patient populations and advanced critical care procedures and equipment, is essential.

Requirements

• 2 years current ALS experience
• Current Critical Care certification
• Possess a valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record and must be able to safely operate a vehicle in various conditions, including daytime, nighttime and inclement weather
• NRP within 1 year of employment

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality care to patients in the transport environment under the direction of the Program Medical Director and the referring and/or receiving Physician in accordance with Critical Care policies, protocols and standards of care.
• Autonomously evaluate critically ill or injured patients of all age groups (pediatric through adult), provide therapeutic intervention, emergency interventions, and preparation for transport (via ground or helicopter) from hospitals or accident scenes.
• Maintain clinical proficiency across all aspects of the Critical Care Division’s scope of practice including care of patients with neurological emergencies, cardiac emergencies, pediatric emergencies, obstetrical emergencies, traumatic emergencies, and any other patient populations transported by the Critical Care Division.
• Maintain clinical competency in all critical care procedures and equipment, including but not limited to ventilators, IV pumps, dopplers, chest tubes, hemodynamic monitoring, Intra-Aortic Balloon Pumps, ventricular assist devices, Impella cardiac assist devices, transcutaneous/transvenous pacers, external ventricular drains, and advanced airway management.
