About The Position

Logan Health is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) to support our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU). In this role, you'll serve as a central point of coordination for patients, providers, nurses, and ancillary departments, helping ensure critical care operations run smoothly throughout each shift. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment, enjoys multitasking, and takes pride in being a dependable resource for both patients and care teams. As a Critical Care HUC, you'll provide administrative and operational support to the unit while helping maintain efficient patient care workflows.

Requirements

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and professionalism
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a healthcare team
  • Healthcare Provider BLS certification preferred; required within three (3) months of hire
  • Telemetry Certification through Logan Health required within three (3) months of hire
  • Montana Notary Public Commission required within three (3) months of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Post-high school education or vocational training in healthcare
  • Previous healthcare experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience with electronic medical records (EMR)

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
  • Creating, maintaining, and preparing patient records and documentation
  • Entering provider orders into the electronic medical record
  • Monitoring patient telemetry screens and communicating changes or alarms to the appropriate care team members
  • Supporting nurses, providers, and interdisciplinary teams with daily patient care operations
  • Maintaining unit supplies, equipment, and organization
  • Assisting with compliance, documentation, and regulatory requirements
  • Prioritizing tasks and adapting to changing patient care needs throughout the shift
