This position is responsible for the care of clients in all treatment areas to ensure their comfort and well-being. This includes daily assessment of their physical and mental state, and the upkeep and accuracy of their charts. The role involves taking vital signs, assessing the client’s medical and psychological symptoms, and documenting these in the daily nursing progress notes. The RN will ensure proper and accurate transcription of physician orders and accurate documentation on the medication administration record, verbal physician orders, and individuals on self-medication plans. They will inform the physician of acute or ongoing medical and/or psychiatric problems, scheduled clinic appointment times, and the results of medical assessments and testing. The RN will also schedule outside medical appointments and ensure client’s transportation. A key responsibility is reviewing the client’s health plan, developing and managing medical and medication goals for clients’ comprehensive treatment plans, and including clients in the self-administration medication program. The role also entails completing intake assessments for new admissions and ensuring all documentation is accurate, timely, and aligned with regulatory and program standards. Regular internal audits of nursing documentation and client charts are required to ensure compliance, accuracy, and completeness. The RN will develop and run nursing groups, act as group therapy co-leaders, and participate in treatment team meetings. They will serve as a liaison between the client’s physicians and the staff, and provide clients and staff with training on hygiene, medication side effects, first aid, nutrition, etc. The RN will provide oversight of the unit while on shift and supervise Psych Techs. Other duties may be assigned by the Associate Director.
