About The Position

UPMC Western Behavioral Health at Safe Harbor is seeking a passionate and driven Crisis Technician I to join their Crisis Residential Unit (CRU) team. The CRU is an 8-bed facility offering an alternative to inpatient behavioral health care. The multidisciplinary team works collaboratively to provide medication management, therapeutic support (group and individual), and referrals for ongoing care. The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and a strong desire to learn. Comprehensive training will be provided upon hire.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Provide direct total physical care to unpredictable, potentially violent mentally ill residents including lifting, supporting, running toward or away from areas where problems are occurring, and pushing or pulling equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and disposition that is warm, friendly, caring, kind, and hospitable toward consumers and colleagues.
  • Act 31 or Act 126 - must be obtained within 90 days.
  • ASIST Certification to be obtained within 1 year of hire or transfer.
  • CPR within 30 days of hire or transfer.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCMC)
  • Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in behavioral health or crisis-related settings.
  • B.S. degree preferred.
  • Crisis experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living), including mobility and medication management.
  • Participating in Multidisciplinary Activities, including attending staff meetings and collaborating with other professionals.
  • Working with crisis care staff, program staff, and physicians to create treatment plans.
  • Using a client-centered, strength-based approach for stability.
  • Acting as a member of the recovery team, providing direct care to patients and families by following CSSP principals, recovery and rehabilitation models of care.
  • Meeting accurate documentation and records requirements.
  • Ensuring safety in the therapeutic environment.
