About The Position

On Demand Counseling is seeking compassionate, dependable, and professional Crisis Peer Supporters to serve individuals throughout Columbiana County, Ohio. The Crisis Peer Supporter uses personal lived experience to provide hope, encouragement, advocacy, and meaningful peer support to individuals during times of crisis. This position plays an important role in helping individuals identify their strengths, understand their options, connect with appropriate resources, and take steps toward recovery and stability. Crisis Peer Supporters will work collaboratively with law enforcement, hospitals, behavioral health providers, treatment programs, and other referral sources to help individuals access the services and supports they need.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Current OhioMHAS Peer Recovery Supporter certification required.
  • Successful completion of required BCI/FBI background checks and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Valid state-issued driver’s license.
  • Acceptable driving record, as confirmed through a Motor Vehicle Record check.
  • Ability to satisfy all applicable Company, insurance, and transportation credentialing requirements.
  • When use of a personal vehicle is required, reliable transportation and proof of required automobile insurance.

Responsibilities

  • Provide recovery education, encouragement, and practical support throughout the recovery process.
  • Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating self-care, responsibility, and wellness.
  • Help clients identify strengths, address barriers, and establish realistic, strength-based recovery goals.
  • Connect clients with community resources and multiple pathways to recovery.
  • Advocate for client needs and support access to appropriate services.
  • Assist clients with life skills, natural supports, and successful community integration.
  • When assigned, transport clients in accordance with Company safety, vehicle, and credentialing requirements.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record or designated system.
  • Promptly report safety concerns, behavioral changes, or relapse indicators to the appropriate team member.
  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, case reviews, and required training.
