About The Position

Crisis Outreach Professionals are part of Comprehensive Healthcare's 24-hour Acute Care team, providing intervention and support to individuals experiencing a mental health or substance use crisis. They receive calls requesting crisis services and travel to the community to conduct crisis assessments, determine necessary treatment levels for stabilization, and arrange for hospital placements or outpatient treatment. The primary goal is to stabilize the crisis using the least restrictive setting possible while ensuring the safety of the individual and the community. This role involves close collaboration with emergency responders, law enforcement, Comprehensive staff, and other community partners to coordinate care. The position offers varied workdays, opportunities for both collaborative and independent work, and requires creative problem-solving.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field.
  • Must be eligible for designation as Designated Crisis Responder.
  • Must be eligible for a credential with the Dept of Health that designates Mental Health Professional status.
  • Must have valid driver's license, vehicle liability insurance, and a safe driving record.
  • Candidates must complete a post-offer, pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of prior experience providing behavioral health treatment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Receiving calls for crisis services from individuals, law enforcement, medical facilities, and service providers.
  • Responding in the community to assess individuals for safety and gather information.
  • Determining the least restrictive environment for crisis resolution and stabilization for the client.
  • Arranging client placements for voluntary and involuntary hospitalization or detox services, when necessary.
  • Communicating with Comprehensive treatment teams about clients who have had crisis contact.
  • Participating in safety planning.
  • Completing extensive clinical and legal documentation for each call taken during the workday.
